Trexel 5L (Plant Growth Inhibitor)
TREX5
Trexel® is absorbed by the leaves and stems of Cereals and Ryegrass. It is absorbed quickly into plant tissue and translocated to the growing parts where the elongation of stem internodes is inhibited, reducing the straw height and risk of lodging. In Ryegrass Seed Crops,Trexel® shortens the straw height, increases Seed set and delays the lodging of the crop, which ensures improved pollination.
Active Ingredient:
250g/litre Trinexapac-ethyl in the form of a Emulsifiable Concentrate.
What Trexel is:
A plant growth regulator (PGR) — not a Herbicide.
Used In:
- Wheat.
- Barley.
- Oats.
- Ryegrass Seed Crops.
- Its job is to shorten and strengthen stems, reducing lodging (Crop falling over).
How It Works:
- Absorbed through leaves and stems (no soil activity) moves to growing points and:
- Suppresses stem elongation.
- Produces shorter, stronger Crops.
Result:
- Less lodging.
- Better standability.
- Improved seed set (especially Ryegrass).
Key Benefits:
- Reduces lodging risk in Cereals.
- Improves yield potential in Ryegrass Seed Crops.
- Helps maintain Crop quality at harvest.
Application Rates & Timing:
Ryegrass Seed Crops:
- Rate: 400–800 mL/ha.
- Water: 200–400 L/ha.
- Timing: GS31–32 (2nd node visible).
Higher Rate Used On:
- High fertility paddocks.
- Irrigated situations.
Wheat, Barley, Oats:
- Rate: 400 mL/ha.
- Water: ~200 L/ha.
- Timing: GS31 (start of stem elongation).
- Note: Can cause temporary stunting in oats, but yield usually unaffected.
Rainfastness:
Rainfast in about 2 hours.
Mixing & Compatibility:
- No surfactant needed.
- Compatible with many Fungicides/Herbicides.
- Can increase effect if mixed with Triazole Fungicides.
Important use conditions (Only apply to).
- Actively growing Crops.
Do NOT Apply If Crop Is Under:
- Drought stress.
- Disease.
- Insect damage.
- Nutrient deficiency.
Withholding Period:
- Ryegrass seed crops: 42 days.
Safety & Hazards:
- Combustible liquid.
Causes:
- Skin irritation.
- Serious eye irritation.
- Very toxic to aquatic life — avoid drift/runoff.
Environmental Cautions:
- No contamination of waterways.
- Avoid spray drift.
- Harmful to soil environment if misused.
Bottom Line:
Trexel® is a crop management tool, not Weed Control.
Best Used When:
- Crops are vigorous and pushing growth.
Biggest Value:
- Preventing lodging + improving harvestability.
Caution:
Must be used strictly according to label directions.
Pack Size: 5L, 10L.
