PRODUCT INFORMATION
What is Pyromite® ? it is a Miticide (Insecticide for Mites), not a Fungicide, Pyromite® is a selective Miticide for the control of European Red Mite and Two-Spotted Mite on Pipfruit.
Active Ingredient: 50g/litre Fenpyroximate SC.
- Chemical Group: Group 21 (METI Miticide) - It’s designed specifically to kill plant-feeding Mites, not Diseases.
What It Controls:
- Six-Spotted Mite (avocados).
Also labelled versions for:
- European Red Mite.
- Two-Spotted Spider Mite (Pipfruit).
Think: tiny sap-sucking pests, not Fungus.
Where It’s Used:
- Avocados (main NZ label use).
- Also Pipfruit (depending on label version).
Application: (Simplified).
- Avocados.
- 75 ml per 100 L water.
- Spray to full coverage (run-off).
- Add a wetting agent to improve coverage.
Timing.
- Apply only when Mite thresholds are reached.
- One application per season only.
- This is important—overuse leads to resistance fast.
Withholding Period:
- Avocados: 14 days before harvest.
Key Safety Warnings:
- Harmful if inhaled or swallowed.
- Causes eye irritation + skin reactions.
- May cause organ damage with repeated exposure.
- Very toxic to aquatic life.
Also harmful to:
- Soil organisms.
- Birds/vertebrates.
Important restrictions.
- Do NOT use on Animals.
- Avoid waterways and runoff.
- Don’t spray if rain expected within 3 hours.
Resistance warning: (very important).
- Group 21 → Mites can develop resistance quickly.
