Active Ingredient:
250g/litre Prothioconazole in the form of an Emulsifiable Concentrate.
What It’s Used On:
Main Crops:
- Wheat.
- Barley.
- Ryegrass Seed Crops.
Controls Diseases like:
- Stripe Rust.
- Leaf Rust.
- Septoria.
- Speckled Leaf Blotch.
- Net Blotch & Scald.
- Ramularia.
- Crown & Stem Rust in Ryegrass.
Application Rates & Timing:
- Typical rate: 400–800 mL/ha.
Apply:
- At first sign of Disease.
- Repeat after 3–4 Weeks if needed.
- Max 3 applications per season.
- Minimum 21 Days between Sprays.
- Water Volume at least 200 L/ha, more for dense Crops.
Key Safety Warnings:
This is not a mild product—label highlights:
- Toxic on Skin Contact.
- Harmful if Swallowed.
- Causes Skin & Serious Eye Irritation.
- May cause organ damage with repeated exposure.
Environmental:
- Toxic to Aquatic Life (long-lasting effects).
- Must not enter Waterways.
Other:
- DO NOT use on Animals.
- PPE Required (Gloves, Protective Clothing, Respirator).
Application Restrictions:
- Ground-based Spraying only (NO Aerial).
Maintain:
- Wind: 3–20 km/h only.
- Buffer: ≥5 m from Water Bodies.
- Use medium or coarse droplets to reduce drift.
Withholding Periods: (Before Grazing/Harvest).
- Wheat & Barley (Grain): 56 days.
- Wheat & Barley (Forage): 42 days.
- Ryegrass Seed: 14 days.
- Ryegrass Forage: 35 days.
Resistance Management: (important)
- Group 3 Fungicide → resistance can develop.
Limit:
- Max 3 DMI sprays per season (total).
- Rotate with other Fungicide Groups where possible.
Bottom Line:
- Vitalis® is a strong Cereal Fungicide—very effective on Rusts and Leaf Diseases, but:
- It’s Toxic and Tightly Regulated.
- Needs strict adherence to Rates, Timing, and Safety Gear.
- Best used as part of a rotation program, not repeatedly on its own.
