PRODUCT INFORMATION
Katana is a Herbicide for Pre-Plant Brushweed Control in Forestry, Knapsack Brushweed Control in Non-Grazed Areas and for Selective Ragwort Control by Spot Application
in Pasture.
Active Ingredient:
Flazasulfuron 250 g/kg in the form of a Water Dispersible Granule.
Main Uses:
Forestry: (Radiata Pine).
Target Weeds: Broom, Bracken, Blackberry, Seedling Gorse.
- Rate: 600 g/ha.
- Timing / Application: Late Summer.
Pre-Plant Aerial Application:
- Apply as a Tank Mix with the Recommended Glyphosate + Pennitr8.
- Minimum 150 L Water/Ha for Standard Boom Systems.
- Use Calibrated Helicopter Application with Half-Overlap Opposite-Pass Technique.
- Do not Plant Trees for 2 Months after Spraying.
- Avoid Ponds, Waterways and Ditches.
Knapsack: (Non-Grazed Areas)
Full Stem and Foliage Coverage is Required. An Organosilicone Surfactant such as Pennitr8 Must Be Included.
Weed: Gorse.
- Rate Per 15L Water: 27g.
- Timing: Any time; Best when Actively Growing.
Weed: Broom.
- Rate Per 15L Water: 27g.
- Timing: Actively Growing, November–May.
Weed: Bracken.
- Rate Per 15L Water: 27g.
- Timing: Late Summer–Early Winter, before Frost; best after Fronds Unfurl.
Weed: Blackberry.
- Rate Per 15L Water: 27g.
- Timing: Late January–May, before Leaves turn Red.
Weed: Wild Ginger.
- Rate Per 15L Water: 18g.
- Timing: Spring–Autumn.
Blackberry may Require Follow-Up Treatment for Regrowth.
Pasture: Ragwort (Spot Application Only).
- Mix: 2g Katana in 10 L Water.
- Apply Approximately 10 mL Spray Mix Per Ragwort Plant.
- Larger Flowering/Multi-Crowned Plants may Require 20–30 mL Per Plant.
- Best Applied at the Rosette Stage and before Late Flowering.
- Use a Solid-Cone Spray Tip, not a Fan Tip.
Withholding Period:
- 14 days.
Pasture Damage:
Katana will Damage Ryegrass and White Clover. Direct the Spray onto the Centre of the Ragwort Plant to Minimise Pasture Contact. Soil Residues can Delay Pasture Re-Establishment for 2 Months.
Rainfastness:
- 2 Hours when used with an Organosilicone Surfactant such as Pennitr8.
Mixing & Compatibility: (For Knapsack use).
- Rinse Sprayer Thoroughly.
- Half-Fill Tank with Water.
- Add Katana.
- Shake/Agitate for 1 Minute.
- Complete Filling and Shake again.
- Use Within 24 hours.
- Katana is Compatible with Glyphosate and Marker Dyes.
- Use Mixtures Within 24 hours and keep Spray Solution Between pH 6.5 and 8.
Key Safety Points:
- Wear Protective Clothing, Rubber Gloves, Boots and Face Shield when Mixing.
- Avoid Spray Mist and Eye Contact.
- Do not Eat, Drink or Smoke while Using.
- Toxic to Aquatic Plants — Prevent Contamination of Waterways.
- Spray Drift can Seriously Damage Desirable Plants.
- Take Particular Care around Soil Types/Topography where Katana could Leach or Wash Towards Desirable Vegetation.
Important Resistance Warning:
Katana is a Sulfonylurea Herbicide. Some Weeds are Resistant to this Herbicide Group. Resistant Escapes can be Managed by Preventing Seed Production through Tillage or use of Herbicides from other Groups.
