Torus 1L (Herbicide)

Torus® is a Herbicide for use as a Tankmix partner with certain knockdown Herbicides in order to broaden the Weed Control Spectrum and improve efficacy against a range of Broadleaf Weeds, and for Seed Potato Haulm Dessication. Torus® is the ideal partner for Glyphosate® or Nirvana® to improve the Weed Control Spectrum and achieve a faster burndown. Torus® is particularly suited for pasture renovation and use in minimum tillage situations.
Active Ingredient:
240g/litre Carfentrazone-Ethyl EW.
How It Works: (important).
- Contact herbicide → burns foliage quickly Causes rapid cell membrane disruption.
Visible Effects:
- Within days.
But:
- No root kill on its own.
- No systemic movement.
What It’s Used For:
1. Tank-mix Partner (main use).
Added To:
- Glyphosate.
- Glufosinate.
Purpose:
- Speeds up burndown.
- Improves control of Broadleaf Weeds.
2. Situations.
- Pasture renovation.
- Minimum tillage / burn-down.
- Pre-plant weed control.
- General knockdown spraying.
3. Special Use.
- Seed potato haulm desiccation (top kill before harvest).
What It Controls:
- Broadleaf Weeds (especially small ones).
- Some Moss (secondary use).
Important Limitation:
- Does NOT control grass weeds.
Application Insights:
- Tank mix rates (typical) 50–100 mL/ha with Glyphosate/Glufosinate.
Key Rules:
- Always mix with a knockdown Herbicide.
Apply To:
- Small, actively growing weeds (≤ ~8 leaf stage).
Works Best In:
- Warm, actively growing conditions.
Performance Drops In:
- Cold weather.
- Drought stress.
Critical limitations:
- Contact only → no long-term control.
Weak On:
- Large Weeds.
- Stressed Weeds.
- Needs partner Herbicide for full kill.
- Think of it as a “booster,” not the main product.
Resistance Management:
- Group E herbicide.
- Risk of resistance with repeated use.
Label Advice:
- Rotate with other Herbicide Groups.
- Don’t rely on repeated use alone.
Safety & Environmental:
- Combustible liquid.
Causes:
- Skin irritation.
- Eye irritation.
- Very toxic to aquatic life & soil organisms.
Key Precautions:
- Avoid drift (can damage crops/plants nearby).
- Keep out of waterways.
- Use PPE.
Simple Way To Think About It:
- Glyphosate = kills the plant (slow, systemic).
- Torus = burns it fast (quick visual + better coverage).
Together:
- Faster knockdown.
- Better Broadleaf Weed Control.
Bottom line:
- Torus = spray additive to improve knockdown performance.
Best Used:

Not Suitable:
- As a stand alone Herbicide for Grass Control.
