Ox 240 EC, 10L (Herbicide)
FENOX10
Active Ingredient & Mode.
- Oxyfluorfen 240 g/L (EC formulation).
- Mode of action Group 14 Herbicide (PPO inhibitor).
What it Controls:
- Broadleaf Weeds + some Annual Grasses.
- Pre-emergence (before Weeds come up).
- Early Post-emergence (Seedlings ~4–6 leaf stage).
Typical Weeds Include:
- Ryegrass, Barley Grass.
- Amaranthus (Redshank).
- Blackberry Nightshade.
- Various Broadleaf Species.
Where It’s Used:
Approved Crops/situations include:
- Apples.
- Grapes.
- Kiwifruit.
- Stonefruit.
- Forestry Nurseries and Trees.
- Various Horticultural Crops.
Best used on bare soil or very small Weeds.
Residual Activity:
- Provides long residual control (up to ~6 months) in ideal conditions.
- Soil should not be disturbed after application.
Application Rates:
- Apply to clean, Weed-free soil, or small actively growing Weeds.
- For post-emergence add a non-ionic surfactant for better control.
Can be:
- Used alone or at low rates to boost knockdown Herbicides.
Typical Mix Rates: (per Hectare).
Orchards, Vines (Apples, Kiwifruit, Grapes, Stonefruit).
- Low rate (Maintenance / Clean Ground).
- 75–200 mL/ha.
- Standard Residual Control.
- 1–2 L/ha.
- Heavy Weed Pressure / Long Residual.
- 2–4 L/ha.
- Directed spray to base only.
- Higher rates only on established Trees (3+ years).
Forestry / Shelterbelts:
- 3–4 L/ha (typical).
- Up to 4 L/ha+ depending on species and timing.
Vegetables / Brassicas:
- 1.5–2 L/ha.
- Pre-plant / knockdown spike ~75 mL/ha (with Glyphosate or Paraquat mixes).
- Post-emergence (small Weeds) Usually Low rates (100–500 mL/ha) Often with Surfactant or in mix.
Water Rates: (important).
- Bare Ground: 250–500 L/ha, - Weeds Present: up to 1,350 L/ha for coverage.
Key Practical Points:
- Best results = bare soil or very small Weeds (≤4–6 leaf).
- Works by contact + residual barrier, Don’t cultivate after spraying, Avoid high rates on young Trees (Crop damage risk).
Simple Rule Of Thumb:
- Spike Mix: 75–150 mL/ha.
- General Orchard use: 1–2 L/ha.
- Long Residual / Heavy Weeds: 2–4 L/ha.
Major Safety & Hazard Points:
- This is not a low-risk product. “Too hazardous for use in the home garden”.
- Toxic to aquatic life and wildlife.
Can Cause:
- Eye irritation.
- Aspiration hazard (if swallowed).
- Long-term health risks with exposure.
Key Restrictions:
Do NOT:
- Spray near Waterways.
- Allow spray drift onto other Crops.
- Graze treated Weeds.
Use Care Around:
- Livestock.
- Sensitive Plants.
Withholding Periods:
- Grazing Do NOT graze treated Weeds.
- Harvest: Not required when used correctly.
Resistance Warning:
- Group 14 Herbicide → resistance can develop, Rotate with other modes of action to avoid failure.
Bottom Line.
- Strong residual Herbicide for Orchards & Forestry, Best on bare ground or very small Weeds, Long-lasting but strict safety controls required, Not suitable for Casual/Home use.
- Best tank mixes (e.g. with Glyphosate/Paraquat), or how it compares to products like Ethoken or Endow.
Caution:
Must be used strictly according to label directions.
