KENZON20
Kenzon is a grass-friendly, selective Herbicide for the control of Gorse, Blackberry, Broom, Lupin, Sweet Brier and other Brushweeds and Certain Broad-leaf Weeds such as Chickweed, Butterfly-weed, Chicory, Clover, Dandelion, Thistle in Pasture, Forestry, Amenity Turf and non-cropland Areas.
Not for Food Crops.
Active ingredient:
100 g/L PICLORAM as the amine salt and 300 g/L TRICLOPYR as the butoxyethyl ester in the form of a Emulsifiable Concentrate.
Application Methods & Rates:
Gorse:
Gun — 250 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 10 L/ha.
Comments — Apply during active growth (spring–early summer). Add Pennitr8 100 mL/100 L when dormant/stressed; North Canterbury: 300 mL/100 L + Pennitr8 100 mL/100 L. Follow‑up may be necessary. Aerial: add Pennitr8 2 L/ha.
Broom:
Gun — 250 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 10 L/ha.
Comments — Spray boom from spring–early summer while leaf present. Best on bushes <3 m high, stems <3 cm.
Blackberry:
Gun — 500–650 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 10 L/ha.
Comments — Treat in summer/autumn when actively growing. Use higher rates on hard‑grazed/low types (Northland/East Coast may be harder).
Matagouri:
Gun — 500 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 12 L/ha.
Comments — Best with moist spring growth prior to spraying.
Tutu:
Gun — 300 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 10 L/ha.
Comments — Apply to fresh regrowth after frond expansion.
Woolly Nightshade:
Gun — 250 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 10 L/ha.
Comments — Apply during active growth; add Pennitr8 recommended.
Lupin:
Gun — 100 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 2 L/ha.
Sweet Brier:
Gun — 300–500 mL/100 L.
Aerial — 12 L/ha.

Gun — 300 mL/100 L.

Ragwort and other Broadleaf Weeds: (Use 250 mL/100 L).
- Ragwort.

Stump Swabbing:
- Mix 1 part Ken‑Zon : 20 parts Water or Diesel.
- Apply liberally to freshly cut surface/stem down to ground level.
Woolly Nightshade.
Stem Cut & Inject:
- Inject 1.5 mL Ken‑Zon into each shallow hatchet cut (make two cuts opposite sides; four cuts if >15 cm diameter).
Grass Turf (Hydrocotyle, Creeping Oxalis, Cape Daisy, Onehunga Weed, other Broadleaf Weeds).— 2 L/ha — Use on Sports Grounds/Recreation Areas only; do not use clippings for Compost/Mulch for six months.
Forestry — Radiata Pine aerial release: 1–2 L/ha — Low rate if young Pines not dormant; high rate only to dormant Trees and within one year of planting.
Some minor Tree distortion possible; suppression only — follow up may be necessary.
Application Examples:
- Knapsack: add 6 mL Ken‑Zon per litre water.
- Ground Gun: pressures 1000–2000 kPa; apply to full coverage of Foliage and Stems.
- Mistblower: 100 mL/10 L tank (ULV: 500 mL/10 L)
- Aerial: use 200–400 L water/ha; apply half‑overlap opposite pass technique.

- Hazardous to soil organisms and terrestrial vertebrates; Aquatic acute & chronic Category 1.

WARNING: Harmful if Swallowed/Inhaled/Absorbed; may irritate Eyes/Skin and cause allergic Skin disorders; very toxic to Aquatic Plants; spray drift can seriously damage desirable Plants.
Personal Protection & Handling:
- Keep out of reach of Children.
- Use under control of trained/experienced person.
- Wear Eye Protection, Chemical‑resistant Gloves, Boots and Coveralls; use Organic‑vapour Respirator where mists/vapours likely.
- Do not Eat, Drink or Smoke while using.
- Keep Stock away until treated poisonous Plants have died down.
First Aid & Emergency:
If Swallowed:
- Do not induce vomiting unless medical care delayed >1 hour; take patient to Hospital.
If In Eyes:
- Flush ≥15 minutes and seek medical advice.

- Transport Emergency: dial 111.
Storage & Disposal:
- Store in original tightly closed container in locked, dry, cool, ventilated area away from Food, Seed and Fertilisers; follow NZS 8409.
- Triple rinse empty container and add rinsate to spray tank; return container to AgRecovery or approved facility.
- Do not reuse container.
Environmental Precautions:
- Very toxic to Aquatic Plants; do not apply to bottoms of Drains, Ditches or Irrigation channels.
- Avoid contamination of Waterways and off‑target movement.
- Prevent spray drift and root contamination of desirable Trees.
- Do not use clippings for Compost/Mulch for six months on treated turf.
Mixing & Equipment:
- Mix by adding measured amount into partly filled tank, then top up and agitate.
- Add Pennitr8 Penetrant where recommended (after filling).
- Compatible with most Herbicides.
- Equipment used for Ken‑Zon must be fully decontaminated before use on desirable Plants.
Withholding / Re‑Establishment:
- No withholding period required except Animal safety/re‑establishment of Clovers.
- Picloram injures Legumes; residues may prevent early Clover re‑establishment—test small areas and consider oversowing 1–2 months prior to planned sowing.
Resistance anagement:
- Group 4 (pyridine carboxylic‑acid).
- Avoid excessive use; rotate modes of action per resistance guidance (resistance.nzpps.org).
Limitations & Warnings:
- Do not use on Food Crops.
- Beware spray drift—do not spray near desirable Plants.
- Do not use on bottoms of drains/irrigation channels.
- Compost/Mulch/Clippings restrictions for Turf.
- Equipment must be decontaminated before use on desirable Plants.
Caution:
Must be used strictly according to label directions.
