Stainless Hex Nipple 3/4"x1/2" BSP.
Description:
● A hex nipple is a short pipe nipple with male threads on either side and a hexagonal shaped head in the middle.
● It has a unthreaded section between the male threads that is a hexagon shape.
Used for:
● A hex nipple, also called a hexagonal nipple, is used to connect two female threaded fittings, pipes or components together.
Advantage:
● The advantage of a hex nipple over a close nipple is that they have a hexagonal shaped head that provides a surface for gripping.
● This hex shaped head provides increased leverage during installation allowing the nipple to be tightened more securely.
● This also makes these nipple fittings better suited to situations where frequent disassembly and assembly is required.
To Install:
● Thread one of the male pipe threads into a female thread of the same size.
● The hexagonal shaped head functions like a bolt that can be gripped by a wrench, making for easy loosening and tightening.
Sizing:
● A hexagon nipple is sized according to the size of the thread it will connect to.
● For Example: a 1/2" hex nipple fitting will thread into a 1/2" female thread.
