VENT5
You Save: $21.00 (12%)
Active Ingredient:
250g/litre Metalaxyl in the form of an Emulsifiable Concentrate.
What It Is:
- Group: Group 4 Fungicide (Phenylamide).
- Type: Systemic Fungicide.
- Targets: Oomycete Diseases (water moulds).
Key Diseases:
- Late Blight (Potatoes, Tomatoes).
- Downy Mildew (Onions, Brassicas).
How It Works:
Works Best:
- Early in Crop growth.
- Before Disease establishes.
- It inhibits Fungal growth internally rather than just protecting the surface.
CRITICAL RULE: (this label is strict).
- Must be tank-mixed.
- ALWAYS mix with Mancozeb®.
Examples:
Potatoes:
- 800 mL/ha Ventura® + 2.1 kg/ha Mancozeb®.
Onions:
- 640 mL/ha Ventura® + 1.7 kg/ha Mancozeb® - This is non-negotiable.
- Ventura® alone = high resistance risk + reduced control.
Crop Uses & Rates:
Potatoes / Outdoor Tomatoes: (Late Blight).
- 800 mL/ha Ventura® + 2.1kg/ha Mancozeb®.
- Water: 500–750 L/ha.
- Timing Start before disease appears.
- Repeat every 10–14 days.
- Max 3 applications per crop.
Onions: (Downy Mildew).
- 640 mL/ha Ventura® + 1.7kg/ha Mancozeb®.
- Interval Every 10 days.
- Max 3 applications.
Brassica Seedbeds:
- 6.5 mL Ventura® / 100 m² + 17g/100 m² Mancozeb®.
- Apply at seedling emergence.
- Repeat every 10 days until transplant.
Major Restrictions: (VERY important).
- Max 3 applications per season. (Applies to Ventura AND any Phenylamide Fungicide).
- Overuse = resistance blowout.
- Crop rotation restriction.
Do NOT Grow same Crop again in same field that season, (e.g. Onions after Onions, Potatoes after Potatoes) This is to reduce Disease + resistance carryover.
Do Not Apply:
- After flowering (Potatoes/Tomatoes).
- When foliage is dying off because systemic movement stops working properly.
Withholding Period:
- 14 days (Onions, Potatoes, Tomatoes).
Application Conditions:
Apply:
- On dry foliage.
- No rain for at least 2 hours.
- Needs time to absorb into plant.
Safety & Hazards:
- Combustible liquid.
- Harmful if swallowed.
- Skin & eye irritant.
- May damage fertility/unborn child.
- Toxic to aquatic life.
- Full PPE.
- Avoid waterways.
Resistance Management: (this one is HIGH RISK).
- Group 4 Fungicide = very high resistance risk (Label Is Very Clear).
- Max 3 sprays.
- Always mix with Mancozeb®.
- Rotate with other Fungicide Groups.
Typical Smart Programme: (Example Logic).
- Early Season use Ventura® + Mancozeb® (systemic kick-start).
- Follow-up with a protectant (Valeo®).
- Later use a Group 3 Chemical.(Validus® / Vandia® / Varicur®).
- This avoids hammering one chemistry group.
Bottom Line:
- Strong early-season systemic Fungicide.
- Best For Late Blight & Downy Mildew.
- Must be mixed with Mancozeb® and be limited to 3 sprays.
- High value for resistance management (different group).
Most Important Takeaways:
If You Remember Nothing Else:
- Always mix with Mancozeb®.
- Use early (preventative).
- Max 3 sprays per season.
- Rotate with other Fungicides.
Caution:
Must be used strictly according to label directions.
