PRODUCT INFORMATION
Carafe™ is a protectant Fungicide for the control of Mildew and Rusts on a range of Horticultural Crops. The micro-granular formulation prevents forming dust and will dissolve rapidly in water forming an easily maintained suspension. Bio-Gro® Certified.
Active Ingredient:
Contains 800 g/ kg Sulphur in the form of a water dispersible granule
What It Controls:
Carafe is used for Fungal Diseases, Especially:
- Powdery Mildew (Main Target).
- Rust Diseases.
Crops Include:
- Apples.
- Stonefruit.
- Grapes.
- Tamarillos.
- Peas.
- Vegetables & Ornamentals.
How It Works: (Key Point).
- Contact Fungicide → stays on plant surface.
- Sulphur disrupts fungal metabolism and spore germination.
Important:
- Works preventatively only.
- No systemic movement.
Use Pattern:
Apply:
- Before infection (Protectant).
Reapply:
- At regular intervals (especially during disease pressure).
Coverage Is Critical:
- Needs good spray coverage on Leaves and Fruit.
Temperature Warning: (Very Important).
Sulphur products like Carafe™ have a key limitation:
- Risk of plant burn (phytotoxicity) in hot conditions, typically avoid spraying above ~25–30°C.
Also:
- Avoid mixing with Oil Sprays close together.
Resistance Management:
- Multi-site Fungicide → very low resistance risk.
This makes it:
- Ideal for rotation programmes.
- Useful as a foundation protectant.
Limitations:
- No curative activity.
- Washes off with heavy rain.
- Less effective under high disease pressure alone.
Often Used:
- In combination or rotation with stronger systemic Fungicides.
Safety & Environmental:
Can Cause:
- Skin and eye irritation.
